Objectives

The goal of the Catholic Club case study was to divert as much organic waste as possible from landfill through the implementation of the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System across their commercial kitchen operations, beginning with the bistro kitchen and expanding to additional kitchens over time.

The objectives were:

2. To identify the volume of organic waste across kitchen operations

Results

Environmental & Social

The benefits of the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System were to be seen in the following:

• A diversion of 140 tonnes of organic food waste from landfill through the Pulpmaster system
• A reduction in plastic bin liner usage across multiple kitchen operations

Occupational Health & Safety

The benefits of the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System were to be seen in the following:

• Elimination of food waste spills on the loading dock, reducing slip and fall hazards
• Reduced back strain risk through the removal of heavy food waste bags from daily kitchen workflows
• Improved hygiene and odour management in back-of-house areas

Financial

The benefits of the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System were to be seen in the following:

• A measurable reduction in general waste pickups, lowering overall waste management costs
• Ongoing savings realised across multiple kitchens following the successful rollout beyond the initial bistro installation
