What food waste can go into the Pulpmaster machine?
Most liquid and solid food waste can go into the Pulpmaster machine including various organic liquids such as cooking oil, gravy, milk, soup and juices. Liquids placed in the machine must not exceed 50 degrees Celsius as this will affect the process of decay important to producing high quality liquid and solid fertiliser.
What food waste cannot go into the Pulpmaster machine?
Food items which may not be placed in the machine are oyster and mussel shells, corn husks, lemon grass and pineapple tops. Shells are ground into sand by the Pulpmaster; over time, this sand will block the pipes. Corn husk, pineapple tops and lemon grass consist of very fibrous material and form a hairball-like product which may become lodged, resulting in a blockage and stopping all other food waste from being processed.
Can paper go into the machine?
The Pulpmaster is intended to be used for food waste disposal only. However, small quantities of organic paper such as soft hand napkins can also be processed by the machine.
What happens if cutlery falls into the machine?
Cutlery can be damaging to the machine. If cutlery ends up in the Pulpmaster, it may cause a jam. The LCD screen will show an error. If the cutlery is not easily seen and removed from the Pulpmaster drum, then you should contact our Service Team for assistance.
What about bones?
The Pulpmaster will process bones. In fact, bones are very good sources of minerals which will increase the quality of the end product. The processing of large quantities of heavy bone during a single session can be very noisy and time-consuming, however, so we recommend you place soft waste below and above the bones to reduce noise levels. If the bones are too large they may cause issues with the processing. Please ensure bone sizes are small enough to be processed and are mixed with soft waste.
Can wooden chopsticks and paddle pop sticks go into the machine?
It is not recommended that these items are purposely processed in the Pulpmaster
What happens when the tank is full?
When the tank reaches full capacity the machine will not allow you to initiate further cycles. The LCD display shows the current tank level as a percentage. When the tank is nearing full, the machine will notify the Pulpmaster via SMS.. This allows for the scheduling of a tank pump. If the tank should reach 100%, the machine will stop operating and the LCD display screen will read ‘Tank Full’.
Is user training provided by Pulpmaster?
Pulpmaster provides initial training sessions for Pulpmaster 6000 operators and facilities staff if required. Operating instructions are also provided in written form, together with laminated instructions that should be placed on a wall close to the machine. These instructions include listings and images of the types of food (both solid and liquid) that can be processed in the Pulpmaster 6000.
How much food waste can the Pulpmaster process in a single cycle?
The Pulpmaster will process 70 litres of food waste in approximately 30 seconds. The machine has electronic loading sensing and will stop a cycle as soon as the last dregs of food waste have been processed. The Pulpmaster also has an ‘Automatic Cycle’ option; when the cycle is complete, the door will open automatically.
How much water does the Pulpmaster use?
The Pulpmaster uses a fine water mist delivery system; however, the amount of water required per cycle is low and the machine has variable water control settings. Our Service Technicians will adjust to suit your requirements.
Is the Pulpmaster System expensive and time consuming?
While ‘expensive’ is a subjective term, there is no denying that the Pulpmaster system is designed to be a cost-effective, efficient and time-saving device. Add to this its extensive environmentally-friendly characteristics and the fact that your waste becomes a sustainable product, we can say in all sincerity that the Pulpmaster is a low-cost and highly efficient food waste disposal solution.
Bear in mind the following:
- Food is heavy. When added to a general waste skip where cost is based on weight, your pick-up costs will be high. Our Pulpmaster system is a much cheaper process due to the fact that zero waste goes to landfill. While other types of waste disposer simply grind food waste into pieces small enough to be washed away through the grey water system, the Pulpmaster transforms waste into a viable and useful product
- An easy system which is difficult to bypass: while some staff may not want to take out heavy rubbish bins, and sometimes put the wrong items in the wrong container which might earn you health and safety-related fines, the Pulpmaster is always close by and negates the need for medium to large food waste containers or plastic bin liners which are both costly and not at all environmentally-friendly
- Time management is improved as your staff spend less time on kitchen waste removal. This fact alone enhances OH&S scores
