Objectives

The goal of the Kawana Shopping world case was to divert as much organic waste as possible from landfill sites for commercial food waste through the replacement of a U19 compactor with the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System.

The objectives were:

Results

Environmental & Social

The benefits of the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System were to be seen in the following:

• a diversion rate of 50% of all food waste from landfill with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions
• the production of organic fertilizer produced from organic food waste

Occupational Health & Safety

The benefits of the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System were to be seen in the following:

• reduced risk of back injury through the use of a dedicated cleaner to remove food waste from various tenants at scheduled times
• the elimination of fruit fly activity

Financial

The benefits of the Pulpmaster Organic Recycling System were to be seen in the following:

• a 50% reduction in service frequency
• increased work place efficiency for every tenant through the use of a dedicated cleaner
